In our stores, we offer craft apprenticeships in Butchery, Fishmongery and Bakery. The apprenticeship is delivered by an external training provider who teach key practical and behavioural skills, which are then put into practice in our stores. Through your apprenticeship, you gain the technical knowledge, practical experience and wider skills you'll need to up skill or progress in your career.
You progress through your apprenticeship thanks to a wide mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training, online learning and the opportunity to practice new skills in a real work environment. The minimum duration for apprenticeship training is 18 months (followed by an end point assessment), but it may be longer depending on which apprenticeship you choose.
Level 2 Butchery Apprenticeship Programme
Butchery plays a huge role in Morrisons tradition and is one of the oldest crafts in the world.
As a Butchery Apprentice, you'll be taught knife skills to the highest level to ensure you're able to produce the most cuts and make each carcass profitable. You'll also learn about the different ranges of species and the techniques needed to produce and process meat products. As a fully qualified Butcher, you could look to progress your career to running our butchery counter as well as many other options.
Level 2 Fishmongery Apprenticeship Programme
The fish production business is a growing industry in the UK and qualified Fishmongers are critical to the Morrisons Market Street offer.
As a Fishmonger Apprentice, you'll learn to identify a huge variety of fish species, you'll learn preparation methods and deepen your knowledge of the fish and shellfish industry, equipping you with the skills to sell our products to consumers. As a qualified Fishmonger, you could progress in your career to running our fish counter as well as many other options.
Level 2 Bakery Apprenticeship Programme
Bakers are working in one of the fastest growing sectors of the food industry.
As a Bakery Apprentice, you'll learn how to make a wide range of different breads and baked goods using traditional craft and modern mechanical methods. You'll learn about the history of bread and pastry making and will develop your knowledge of the correct ingredients, methods and timings for producing specific baked products for our customers. With this qualification, you could a progress to be a trainer or expert in your area, as well as many other career options.
